Congradulations to John Toonders(Williamsburg), Maurice Kolff, Ron Toonders and Shawn Lapier for winning the 'B' event; the Bruce MacDonald Shield this past Saturday at the Merkley and to Jack Barkley, Dave King, Doug Jarvis and Rick MacKenzie for winning the ' b' event of the Sullivan.

The Merkley Cup played on Saturday in Morrisburg was won by Russell. There were 2 exciting playoffs games with Russell defeating Metcalfe in the last shot of the game and Morrisburg defeating Winchester in 7 ends. Thank you to Susan Mcintosh, Joanne Baker, Claire Locke, Maureen Robertson, Heather Black, Elizabeth Locke and Paula Locke for preparing and serving a delicious pork dinner. Another thank you goes to the bar staff, Sandra Bonyun, Paula Locke, Darryl Mcdonell and Sam Locke and the ice workers, Wally Baker, Pete Zeran, Ron Beaupre and Dave King. All contributed in making this a very successful event.

This was followed on Wednesday with another B side victory by Morrisburg in the Sullivan tournament for Senior Men from Russell, Metcalfe, Winchester and Morrisburg played this year at Russell.  The team of Jack Barkley, Dave King, Doug Jarvis, and Rick Mackenzie defeated Metcalfe in the B final.  Metcalfe club however put in an excellent showing at this years tournament by advancing a team to both finals.  The trophy donor and tournament founder was there to present the trophy to the successful Metcalfe team that won the main event to take home the trophy.
